DR. SAID MASOUD ALI KASHOOB

Dr. Said Kashoob is the dean of Ibri College of Technology. Previously he worked as assistant dean for academic affairs at Al Mussana College of Technology.He is currently the chairman of the Oman Quality Network in Higher Education (OQNHE) Executive Committee. Dr. Said is an external reviewer for Oman Academic accreditation Authority (OAAA), The Research Council (TRC), and the Ministry of Higher Education. He is also member of the TRC sectorial committee for information and communication technology. In addition, Dr. Said has contributed to many initiatives within the Ministry of Manpower and the Colleges of Technology with regard to teaching and learning methods, educational technology methods, program development and review, quality assurance and accreditation.

MR. PHILIP BARBER

Philip has worked in higher education for almost 20 years most of which has been here in Oman. He is a British business graduate with a PGCE in Further and Higher education. He has also completed a Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and a Masters in Applied Linguists with the University of Sothern Queensland. Furthermore, Philip has a Post Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership and Strategic Planning from the University of Leicester and he is currently in the process of producing a thesis for a Professional Doctorate in Higher Education with the University of Liverpool on the subject of `International Benchmarking Networks.`

Philip has held numerous positions during these past 20 years; business tutor, English language teacher, Internal Verifier, Quality Assurance Officer, Head of Accreditation and Staff Development and my current position of Head of Quality Enhancement at Majan College. During this time, he has had numerous responsibilities; teaching, curriculum design, assessment production, strategic and operational planning, internal audits, governance, policy and procedure development, risk management, benchmarking, and institutional research. Before working in higher education Philip served in the British armed forces and was self-employed.

SAMYA AWADH AL SHANFARI

Samya Awadh Al Shanfari is Head of Quality Assurance Unit and in the stage of finalizing a PhD thesis titled Transnational Higher Education and Quality: Oman`s Experience and the Concept of Policy Borrowing. A key aspect of the thesis investigates international academic affiliations as a mechanism to assure quality in Oman in relation to both institutional policy of Transnational Higher Education and national policy within the sphere of policy borrowing. In 2006, she obtained a Master Degree in Management and Leadership from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, UK. The MSc research investigated "Managing Change to Introduce Quality Assurance in CBFS". Samya was appointed as Quality Assurance Head in 2009 and was part of the team who lead CBFS through Stage 1: CBFS Institutional Audit. Currently, she is a member of fundamental teams that ensure moving towards Stage 2: Institutional Standards Assessment (e.g. Academic Committee, Risk Committee and Quality Assurance Support Team). As part of CBFS membership and plan towards AACSB accreditation, Samya is leading some initiatives such as Assurance of Learning in CBFS.
Her involvement in publications and academic participations include presenting her research in 2013/14 in Cambridge University and in Glasgow University, coauthoring a Keynote presentation with her supervisor (Gari Donn) for the OECD Seminar in Japan, which revolved around Global Trends in Higher Education Institutions in the Gulf States in February 2013.

DR. RIMA AL ZADJALI

Dr. Rima Al Zadjali is a graduate of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), College of Education. She has an MA in Language Testing and Program Evaluation (with distinction) from the University of Essex, UK and a PhD degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Lancaster, UK.

Dr. Rima Al Zadjali is currently the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs and Community Service at the Quality Assurance Office, SQU. In this role, she works closely with administrative and academic units in all matters pertaining to quality assurance, accreditation, policy development, and performance management. Dr. Rima previously served as the Deputy Director for Assessment at the Language Centre, SQU. In this post, she supervised the design and implementation of English language achievement, placement, and exit tests in the General Foundation Program.

Dr. Rima has been an external reviewer with the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) since 2010. In this role, she has participated as a panel member in a number of Quality Audits, including pilot GFP audits. She also served as Executive Officer during her secondment at the OAAA in 2012.

DR. ALMA ENRIQUEZ

Dr Alma Enriquez is the Head of the Quality Assurance and Planning Department of the German University of Technology in Oman. She has a Ph. D in Educational Management and with around 15 years of experience in the industry and higher education. She is the Project Manager for ACQUIN Programme Accreditation and is an OAAA external reviewer. Having attended a number of local and international workshops and conferences, she is also an active member of the Middle East and North Africa Association for Institutional Research (MENAAIR). Her major contributions are on planning, policy management and quality enhancement.

PROF. P. MANI JOSEPH

ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE
MODERN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND SCIENCE

Mani Joseph is the Associate Dean for Quality Assurance at Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS), Oman. Prior to joining MCBS in 2004, he served as the Dean of Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering at Sharjah College, UAE. Joseph received his Ph.D degree from Cochin University of Science and Technology, India in the field of communication. He is an ABET IT Program Evaluator and ABET IDEAL Scholar.

Joseph is a member of Oman Association of Quality in Higher Education (OAQHE) Executive Committee which is an independent, not-for-profit association of Omani Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) focusing on quality enhancement in higher education. He served as the secretary of the association from 2014-16. He is an external Academic reviewer of OAAA.

Joseph was actively involved in the development of International Undergraduate and Associate Degree Information Technology (IT) curriculum as a member of both ACM International IT Curriculum Committee and ACM International IT Education Committee.

He is an active member of various professional societies including ACM SIGITE (Association for Computing Machinery - Special Interest Group on Information Technology Education), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Association), and ISACA (Information System Audit and Control Association).

He has published several papers in the field of Information Technology and Quality Assurance. His current research interests include Institutional Effectiveness and Data Analytics. Joseph is the current Director of Education at ISACA Muscat Chapter

DR. NASSER AL HINAI

DEPUTY CEO PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT

Nasser Said Al Hinai is currently the Deputy CEO Planning & Development at the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority. Prior to this, he served as a quality assurance expert for foundation programs and the Director of the Foundation Program Department.

Nasser graduated from Sultan Qaboos University with a B.Ed in English Language Teaching in 1996. In 2000, he was awarded an M.Ed in Educational Management and Policy Studies from Bristol University, UK. He completed his full-time P.hD in Education by research in the field of teaching effectiveness and quality assurance in higher education at Durham University, UK, in 2011.

Prior to joining the OAAA, Nasser taught English language at the Higher College of Technology, Muscat, for many years, initially as a lecturer and later as an assistant professor. In the same College, he also served in full time positions as the Director of the English Language Center and later as the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit for several years.

PRO. TAQI AL ABDUWANI

Prof. Taqi Al Abduwani’s first degree was from the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education, UK. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from University of Lincolnshire, UK in 1998. In 2009 he was awarded the PhD Degree in Education from University of Reading, UK. His thesis was on assessing the role of the soft component of human capital theory and explains the differences in soft skill endowment in Oman.

Prof. Taqi has participated in various training programmes: namely Advanced Quality and Accreditation in Higher Education hosted by Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK; Human Resources and Personnel Management in University of Pittsburgh, USA; Human Resources Development Technology in Arab Consulting and Development Corp., Egypt among others. He has also been a resource person in several international and National seminars, trainings, workshops and conferences on topics relating to risk management, capacity building, soft skills, human resource development issues and localisation of jobs in GCC countries. His sessions have included: Ownership and Management of Businesses; Small Business Incubators; Teaching Methods; Managing Your Teaching Profile; Research Ethics; Plagiarism and Over-marking

Prof. Taqi is a certified ISO 9001:2008 Internal Auditor, Research Reviewer and member of Education and Human resources sector committee in The Research Council, Programme Reviewer for the Ministry of Higher Education He has been the member of the OQNHE Executive Committee for consecutive two terms, one term as Chair of the committee and the other term as member. He has Certified Management Accountant Membership from the Institute of Certified Management Accountants, Australia, as well as being a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, USA, and the Arabian Society for Human Resource Management. He is also a member of the Club of Rectors of Europe.

Prof. Taqi has been the Dean of Gulf College since 2004. He has had held several significant posts, including Managing Director for the first privatised higher educational institution in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Prior to this he worked in several government organisations in various designations such as Director of Human Resources, Director of Training, and Director of Follow-up and Administrative Regulations.

He was awarded the Honorary Professorship by the International University of Vienna during the Oxford Summit of Leaders which was held during March 2010. He was awarded as Outstanding researcher of Oman, World Advocacy Award 2015 organised by IAMURE Multidisciplinary Research in May 2015. In March 2016, he was bestowed with the Name in Science Award by the Europe Business Assembly in London.

Prof. Taqi is a peer reviewer in The Research Council of Oman with effect from February 2013 and also a programme reviewer in the Ministry of Higher Education, Oman with effect from March 2014. Prof. Taqi has been appointed as a Director of the Governance body of the Arab European Education Leadership Network (ARELEN) in Oman. Prof. Taqi has been appointed as peer reviewer in the Arab Journal of Quality in Education and also member of the Editorial Board and Advisory Board Consultant of the International Journal of Emerging Technology and Advanced Engineering. Prof. Taqi has been certified as a trainer for Entrepreneurship in Sultanate of Oman by Ministry of Higher Education in February 2017.

Dr. YASEEN AL LAWATI

Dr Yaseen graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, Uk with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 1995. He worked as an Assistant Professor in Microbiology, Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University from 1995-2009. From 2000-2004, he held the position of Assistant Dean, Pre-clinical Affairs (Academic Affairs) in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University and also supervised student’s activities in the College of Medicine for ten years. Currently, he is an Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Oman Medical College. At OMC, he is chairing the Curriculum Committee; he gives workshops on Methods of Advising to the faculty and supervises student academic and extracurricular activities. In the previous years, he has attended various activities such as a Medical Education Workshop 2010 in West Virginia University USA, “Second Workshop for Strategic Planning for University and Higher Education in Oman”, Education & Training for Development, Oman Research Council, SQU, 2007, “The Certificate Course in Health Professions Education” at the College of Medicine King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2002). His experience throughout the years has given me a backbone on Quality Assurance issues.

Dr. YASMIN AL BALUSHI

Dean Muscat college previously Assistant Dean – Academic Support at CBFS. She got her PhD from Leeds University, UK. Over the past 17 years she has taught varied levels of General English, TOFEL & IELTS. She has also been involved in conducting training courses on presentation skills, business communication and leadership & emotional intelligence. She has done research in the fields of ESP & ELT. She has participated in many national and international conferences, training programs and workshops. She is a Certified Trainer, coach and assessor for Emotional Intelligence by Six Seconds, USA.
